Brief History

IMCS Nepal in the past:
IMCS Nepal was first founded in the year 1992 with a motive of mobilizing students for human rights and social justice. In the beginning, it was known as the union of Parish Catholic Students. They carried out various activities ensuring climate justice, social equality, equal education for all, interfaith integration for peace and justice.

Activities:
• Formation of youth groups
• Fund Raising
• Reaching out to the poor and homeless (i.e., feeding the street children)
• Involvement in civil pressure; becoming a voice for the marginalized by participating in rallies and street campaigns
• Human Rights Trainings
• Theological session on vocation for the human rights and peace building
• HIV test of migrant families

IMCS Nepal at present:
In October 2016, IMCS Secretary General Ms. Evelina Manola and IMCS Asia Pacific Coordinator Mr. Ravi Tissera visited Nepal and shared their intention of reestablishing the movement with Bishop Paul Simick, the Apostolic Vicariate of Nepal and he wrote an official letter to Fr. Jiju Varghese, S.J., the Principal of St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar. Thereafter, St. Xavier’s College became the official center for IMCS Nepal.
